Proteostasis UK Logo competition

Competition Brief

 

Proteostasis UK invites submissions for a new logo that represents the network and its objectives. The winning design will receive registration, accommodation, and travel to the UK Proteostasis Meeting 2026. The logo will be used across our website, social media channels, and promotional materials.

Designs should reflect the ethos of Proteostasis UK, capturing our focus on advancing proteostasis research, fostering collaboration across academia and industry in the UK, and supporting innovation and discoveries that address major societal challenges. Entries will be judged on relevance, originality, and quality. Please submit your design(s) to UKProteostasis@babraham.ac.uk by 10th May 2026.

Terms & Conditions
 

1.Organiser
 

This competition is organised by Proteostasis UK (the “Organiser”). 

2.Eligibility
 

Open only to registered members of the Proteostasis UK community. Open to all PhD, Postdocs, or Group leaders that are part of the Network. If you haven’t already done so, sign up- click here!

3.How to Enter


Entrants must submit their design(s) via by emailing UKProteostasis@babraham.ac.uk.   
Entries must be received by 10th May 2026.  
Each entrant is permitted to submit multiple logo designs. 
Entrants may include a brief design rationale (200 words or less) explaining the concept behind their design, the inspiration for the logo, and how it reflects the values or scientific focus of Proteostasis UK. This is optional but encouraged. The rationale will be considered as supporting information during the judging process. 

4. Design Requirements

The logo should include the text “ProteostasisUK”, written as a single word.
Entries must be original and must not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party.
Designs should reflect the ethos of Proteostasis UK by capturing the principles central to our network: advancing proteostasis research, fostering collaboration across UK institutions and industry, and supporting innovation and discoveries that can address major societal challenges. 

File Format and Background Requirements:

  • Entries must be submitted in at least one of the following formats: SVG, EPS, or high‑resolution PNG (300 dpi). Submission in SVG or EPS format is strongly preferred. 
  • SVG and EPS files must not contain any background elements (these formats should appear with a transparent background by default). 
  • PNG submissions must include a transparent background. 
  • Entrants may optionally submit an additional version on a solid background for display or judging purposes, but this is not required. 
  • All files must be suitable for use across digital and print media without loss of quality. 
  • Entrants are encouraged to provide two versions of their logo: (1) a version including the name ‘ProteostasisUK’ (written as a single word), and (2) a standalone symbol or icon version without text. This allows flexibility for use across different media and formats. 

Branding Elements (Optional):
Entrants may choose to submit additional branding elements to accompany their logo design, such as colour palettes, recommended fonts, and examples of how the logo could be applied in digital or print contexts. These elements are optional; however, submissions that include a cohesive brand scheme may receive additional credit during the judging process. 

5. Intellectual Property & Usage Rights
 

By entering the competition, entrants agree that: 

  • The winning design’s full copyright and intellectual property rights will be assigned to Proteostasis UK. 
  • Proteostasis UK may modify, reproduce, publish, and distribute the winning design without restriction. 

6. Judging Criteria


All eligible entries will be assessed by a judging panel appointed by the Organiser. Selection of the winning entry will be based on the following criteria: 

  • Relevance to Proteostasis UK 
    • How well the design reflects the objectives, values, and scientific focus of Proteostasis UK. 
    •  Whether the logo effectively communicates themes such as proteostasis, collaboration, innovation, or the UK research community. 
  • Originality and Creativity 
    • The uniqueness of the concept and execution. 
    • The extent to which the design stands out while remaining professional and suitable for a scientific network. 
  • Quality and Practicality 
    • Clarity and usability of the logo across a range of sizes, backgrounds, and formats. 
    • Suitability for both digital and print media (e.g., websites, posters, presentations, merchandise). 
    • Clean, scalable design that adapts well when resized. 
  • Optional Branding Scheme (Additional Credit) 
    • Entrants may choose to submit extra branding materials such as colour palettes, font suggestions, or examples of how the logo could be applied across all materials. 
    • These additional elements are optional, but entries that include a thoughtful, cohesive brand scheme may receive extra credit. 

The judges’ decision is final. 
The organisers reserve the right to withhold the prize if no submission is deemed suitable. 

7. Prize


Proteostasis UK will cover the winner’s registration fee, UK‑based travel costs, and up to two nights of accommodation for the UK Proteostasis Meeting 2026 (in accordance with UKRI reasonable‑expense guidelines: https://www.ukri.org/publications/ukri-travel-subsistence-and-expenses-policy/). Reimbursements will be issued after the event upon submission of valid receipts. 
The prize is non‑transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.

8. Notification of Winner
 

The winner will be notified by email within 14 days of the closing date. If the winner does not respond within 7 days, the Organiser may select an alternative winner.

9. Data Protection 

Personal data submitted will be used solely for the purpose of administering the competition and will be processed in accordance with GDPR. Personal data will not be shared with third parties. 

10. Withdrawal of Entries
 

Entrants may withdraw their entry by emailing UKProteostasis@Babraham.ac.uk any time before the competition closing date. 

11. Cancellation or Amendment
 

Proteostasis UK reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition and these T&Cs if necessary due to circumstances beyond its control. 

12. Acceptance of Terms 

By entering, participants agree to these Terms & Conditions.
